Shadows Over Toronto
Hello, I’m Jay Nicoll of Nicoll Investigations and this is an Ontario Cold Cases - Canada’s True Crime Podcast fictional episode of Whodunnit Wednesday’s.
Go back to the Golden Era of detective fiction and enjoy stories in the tradition of the greats of writing. From Agatha Christie to Raymond Chandler to John Creasey, these are short stories I hope you enjoy.
Shadows Over Toronto
John Blake’s phone buzzed with a new email—an anonymous tip about the unsolved “Gardener Murders,” a series of cold cases from the late 90s where victims were found buried in shallow graves in various community gardens around the city, each with a rare flower planted atop them. The cases had gone cold, and the killer was never found.
Looking closely at the photo he realized it was a new site, unconnected to the old patterns but eerily similar in execution.
The realization sent a chill down his spine. Was the killer back, or was it a copycat inspired by the original crimes? Either way, John knew he was about to descend into a deep, dark world once again.
