Richmond Hill’s Triple Vanishing: Wendy Smith, Pierre Mercon, Cheryl Rowe
A first shift, a costume party, and a Christmas plan. We investigate the chilling sequence of disappearances that scarred a community.
Three individuals. Twenty years. One quiet town north of Toronto.
In 1995, Wendy Smith started her first shift at the Fantasia Hotel strip club. She never finished it. Investigators believe she met her end that night, but for nearly 30 years, her family has begged for the truth.
Just one year later, on Halloween night 1996, 21-year-old Pierre Mercon called his mother for a ride home in the early morning hours. When she arrived, he was gone. Foul play is strongly suspected.
The vanishing continued in 2011. Cheryl Rowe, planning Christmas dinner, disappeared days before the holiday—a time of year her daughter says she wouldn't miss for the world. Police later changed her case status to murder.
Three cold cases. Three families shattered in Richmond Hill, Ontario.Don't miss the next chapter of Ontario Cold Cases - Canada's True Crime Podcast.

Four Blocks from Home: The Abduction of Christine Prince
A rainy night, a dropped umbrella, and a killer who knew the road. DNA waits for a name.
This episode dives into the heartbreaking and mysterious case of Christine Prince, a Welsh nanny who came to Toronto in 1981, hoping to build a career caring for children. Christine found work with the Kruzick family, caring for their young daughter and quickly becoming part of their family. She loved her new life in Toronto and was even engaged to a chef named David Curtis-Smith.
But on June 20, 1982, her life took a tragic turn. After an evening out, Christine was last seen by her friend Gloria Betts on a streetcar. Just four blocks from her home, she was likely abducted, taken over 40 km away, assaulted, and murdered. Her body was found in the Rouge River, and the case remains unsolved over 40 years later.
Just a quick reminder: don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss any episodes!
Police believe Christine's killers may have been two men, and over the years, they’ve considered several suspects, including notorious serial killers Paul Bernardo and Danny Wood. Yet no one has been definitively connected to her murder. DNA evidence exists, and advancements in forensic science hold the hope that someday it may yield answers.
If you remember anything about Christine or received unusual gifts around that time – a distinctive gold ring, a gold watch, or a Kodak Instamatic camera – please reach out. Every clue matters in helping her family find justice.

The Unsolved Case of Valerie Karen Stevens: A Search for Answers
In the early hours of September 9, 1989, Valerie Karen Stevens, a 19-year-old mother from Toronto, left her young daughter in the care of a teenage couple and set out to meet friends at the popular Diamond Club in downtown Toronto. Pregnant at the time, Valerie was never seen alive again. Days after she vanished, the teenage couple, who had been watching her daughter for several days, reported her absence. Her welfare checks went unclaimed, and her bank account remained untouched—indicators that something was gravely wrong.
Valerie’s skeletal remains were discovered three years later in October 1992 by hunters in a wooded area near Burford, Ontario. Although an autopsy could not determine her cause of death, police suspected foul play. Witnesses suggested that Valerie may have been hitchhiking when she encountered her killer, potentially leading to her tragic fate.
